Aww..man, you've just gotta keep up with the pastels...for a little while anyway. The colours are so brilliant! Such a lovely piece! Glad I stopped in.
I felt that way about oil paint when I first painted with it..now it's my favourite medium. My paradigm shifted when I learned that it doesn't HAVE to be a messy affair. In fact, it's better when you keep the paints tidy.
I'm sure the more you work with them, the better you'll be able to gauge if they are the right medium for you!
